Here are some great open source applications which I use most of the time. These applications can be installed in Microsoft Windows, Linux and OS X. I would like to recommend you to install and use it as your main applications. These open source applications can be downloaded for free and can be distributed. If you know programming, you can modify the source code and distribute it.

Mozilla Firefox.
I am pretty sure that you already knew about this great web browser called Mozilla Firefox. If you don’t have any idea about Mozilla Firefox, let me tell you a little bit about this web browser. Mozilla Thunderbird is also a product of Mozilla Foundation. Mozilla Thunderbird is a cross platform email and news client which uses Mozilla codebase. OpenOffice.org

It also able to read files which the original software package had said were corrupted and unusable.

VLC Media Player
VLC Media Player is a multimedia player, encoder, and streamer which is developed by VideoLAN team. VLC can play various audio and video formats (MPEG, DivX, Ogg, and many more) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It has pretty nice interface.
Pidgin
Pidgin formerly know as Gaim is an instant messaging client which allows you to use multiple instant messaging accounts at a same time. Pidgin supports many features of the various networks, such as file transfer, away messages, and typing notification. One of the features which I like the most is tabbed message windows. You can enable tabbed message windows to organize all the conversation windows.
Gimp

Filezilla
Filezilla is an excellent FTP program with clean and nice user interface. The main features that Filezilla has are the site manager, message log, file and folder view, and the transfer queue. Azureus Vuze is a BitTorrent client which is written using java programming language.
